The weather might be cooling off but your workload sure isn't. Ensuring your equipment is ready for any job, even in the winter is essential for a profitable business. Although most of Arizona doesn't see extreme temperatures during the winter months, the cold can still be hard on your equipment, especially after a harsh summer.

Here are 10 ways that you can personally prepare your equipment for the winter season ahead.

Always let your equipment run to warm up before use when in cooler temps.  

  1. Check, refill, and replace fluids as needed. 
  2. Grease the tractor at all grease points along with applying a coat to any ll exposed cylinder rods to help prevent corrosion. 
  3. Check that your battery is in good working condition, test, and replace if needed.
  4. Make sure your fuel is winterized before the cold weather begins.
  5. Check your tire's air level, tread depth, and ensure there is no damage.
  6. Check that all lights are functioning properly, you may not have noticed they were out in the summer months, but as days get shorter you will rely on them more often. 
  7. Inspect your ROPS to make sure they are secured properly.
  8. Change out any hitches or other attachments.
  9. Check all hydraulic hoses for damage or leaks.
  10. Clean your air filter for your engine and cab ( if applicable)  is clean and function properly.
