Kubota Vs. John Deere
Posted by on 21 September 2021
Share This Story:
Kubota and John Deere are two of the most well-known agriculture and construction equipment brands and for a good reason. When comparing Kubota vs John Deere, a lot of the features are pretty similar, so much so that it won't make a difference when choosing a brand. What matters is the quality, durability, and service choices available.
We tend to choose proven brands that we recognize, and John Deere is a brand almost everyone has heard of. However, just because Kubota isn't in country songs or recognized by everyone, brand recognition doesn't always mean it's number one. Kubota has been building quality tractors from the beginning. Kubota is rated USAs #1 in reliability for under 100hp compact tractors and it was awarded the 2019 Highest Retained Value Award for its U Series. If that isn't enough Kubota is also the #1 manufacturer in the world for under 100 HP non-automotive, multi-cylinder diesel engines
Let's take a look at some key strengths & weaknesses that matter when making your decision.
Compact Tractors
- Kubota L series vs. John Deere 3E Series — One big difference is the medium-range drive as a standard on Kubota. The mid-range HST option available on the Kubota provides more versatility and usability on the tractor.
- Another feature is the Quick Mount Loader feature on Kubota L Series which detaches in minutes.
- The John Deere 3D series has a Fixed-Mount Loader which requires tools and time to remove it.
- Kubota’s L Series boasts a deluxe hydraulics system, compares to Deere’s 3E Series’ basic hydraulics. Kubota’s superior hydraulics system allows the L Series to perform dual functions with its front loader. This means having the capability to raise the loader and dump or curl the bucket simultaneously.
- the Kubota L Series sports a metal hood compared the John Deere’s plastic hood.
Zero-Turns Mower
If you compare Kubota vs. John Deere Residential Mowers, you will see a few notable. Let's compare the Kubota Z231 and the John Deere Z355E.
- The Kubota is slightly larger at 749 pounds, while the Deere Z355E weighs 555 pounds; Partially due to the heavier build of the Kubota. John Deere is manufactured using a spot welding technique to put their mowers together, while Kubota is fully welded.
- Comfort is king. The John Deere seat is one piece, and although it has a comfort system, the seatback is low. The Kubota features a taller seat with a two-part unit that adjusts to fit the seat to your body. That is an imporant feature for those who spend long hours mowing or working on the farm.
- Quality built — Starting with the ground. Kubota's wheels offer bearing style adjustments for the front wheel casters, while the John Deere uses a thin rubber bushing.
While the John Deere Mower is a good mower, it is often the little things that make the biggest difference, especially when it comes to what you spend your money on.
Kubota is committed to engineering excellence so that our customers can focus on planting, feeding, building, and caring for our world.
When shopping for a tractor, mower, or farm equipment, it really comes down to what is most important to the buyer, and every buyer's needs are different. The best way to decide is to sit in the driver’s seat and see for yourself. For us, those differences make Kubota an easy choice.
