KubotaNOW Telematics, powered by WorkSmart, gives Kubota equipment owners real-time visibility into their machines from a phone or browser. For Arizona contractors and operators managing equipment across remote job sites, large properties, and multiple locations across Mesa, Casa Grande, Prescott Valley, Tucson, Buckeye, Deer Valley, Cottonwood, Lakeside, Parker, and Yuma, it means less time checking on machines in person and more information when something needs attention.
What Is KubotaNOW Telematics?
KubotaNOW is the brand name for Kubota's telematics system, built on the WorkSmart Telematics platform. When a compatible Kubota machine is equipped with a WorkSmart modem, it transmits data to the My Kubota app and web platform. You can see where the machine is, how it's running, and whether it needs attention, all without being on site.
For Arizona operators managing excavators on remote desert job sites, skid steers across multiple job sites in Mesa, Buckeye, Deer Valley, or the greater Phoenix area, or tractors on large properties near Yuma or Casa Grande, KubotaNOW removes the guesswork from fleet and equipment management. You know the machine is where it's supposed to be, it's running properly, and it hasn't thrown any fault codes, before you make the drive out.
GPS Location Tracking
Know exactly where each machine is at any time. View locations on a map in the My Kubota app and confirm equipment is on the correct job site.
Engine Hours and Status
Track accumulated engine hours remotely. Know how hard each machine is working and plan maintenance intervals accurately across your fleet.
Fluid Levels and Temperatures
Monitor fuel, DEF, coolant temperature, hydraulic temp, and battery voltage. Get alerts before a fluid issue becomes a breakdown.
Fault Code Alerts
Receive near real-time notification of error codes before they escalate. Identify issues early and plan service before a machine goes down on a job.
Restart Inhibit
Remotely disable a machine's starter through the app. If equipment is stolen or left unsecured on an Arizona job site, you can prevent it from starting until you say otherwise.
Geofencing
Draw custom boundaries around job sites, storage yards, or property lines. Get notified immediately when a machine enters or exits the geofence.
The My Kubota App
My Kubota is the mobile and web platform where all WorkSmart Telematics data lives. Available on iOS and Android, it gives equipment owners a single dashboard to monitor all telematics-enabled machines, manage geofences, set up alerts, and access digital operator's manuals and maintenance guides for their specific models.
Beyond telematics, My Kubota includes model-specific maintenance information and how-to videos for common service tasks. For Arizona operators who run equipment far from a dealer, having the operator's manual and maintenance guides available in the app reduces downtime when a question comes up in the field.
- Equipment dashboard showing all telematics-enabled machines in one view
- GPS map view with machine locations and geofence overlays
- Digital operator's manuals for each machine registered in the account
- Maintenance guides and how-to videos for common service tasks by model
- Alert management for fault codes, fluid levels, geofence entry/exit, and transport events
- Third-party fleet management API access (Premium) for operators using external fleet platforms
- Available on iOS and Android and accessible via web browser on desktop
WorkSmart Telematics: What It Tracks
WorkSmart is the underlying telematics system that powers KubotaNOW. When a compatible machine is equipped with a WorkSmart modem (either from the factory or as an aftermarket installation), it begins reporting data to the My Kubota platform. The specific data points available vary by machine model, but the core WorkSmart feature set includes:
- GPS location and ignition status
- Engine hours, engine status, and engine RPM (model-dependent)
- Battery voltage and ignition hours
- Fluid levels including fuel and DEF (model-dependent)
- Operating temperatures including coolant and hydraulic (model-dependent)
- Error codes with near real-time notification (model-dependent)
- Geofence management: create multiple zones, receive entry and exit notifications
- Restart inhibit: remotely enable or disable the machine's starter (model-dependent)
- Transport and movement alerts even when the WorkSmart device is disconnected from power
WorkSmart Telematics is available on select Kubota models including the SVL97-2, SVL75-2, SVL65-2, SSV65, SSV75, KX040-4, KX033-4, KX030-4, KX018-4, U-Series excavators, R430, R540, and more. A KubotaNOW modem is required for all installations on machines that are not factory-equipped. View the full supported models list (PDF)
Geofencing: Know When Equipment Moves
A geofence is a digital boundary you draw on a map in the My Kubota app. When a WorkSmart-equipped machine enters or exits that boundary, you receive a notification. You can create multiple geofences for different job sites, storage yards, or property boundaries, and each geofence can be named for easy identification.
For Arizona contractors with equipment stored at overnight job sites or left unattended near Casa Grande, Cottonwood, Parker, Yuma, or any remote desert location across Arizona, a geofence is a practical theft deterrent. If the machine moves when it shouldn't, you know immediately.
How to Create a Geofence in My Kubota
- 1Open the machine card in the Equipment tab of the My Kubota app
- 2Select "Geofence" under "WorkSmart Telematics"
- 3Tap "Add Geofence" and zoom the map to the desired area
- 4Tap multiple points to draw the boundary, then connect the last point to the first to close the area
- 5Tap "Save" and give the geofence a name for easy identification
Restart Inhibit: Remote Starter Control
Restart Inhibit lets you remotely disable a machine's starter through the My Kubota app. Once enabled, the machine will not start until you send the command to re-enable it. This is available on select WorkSmart-supported models and is one of the most practical security features for equipment left on unattended Arizona job sites overnight or over a weekend.
When you send a Disable Starting command from My Kubota, the signal goes to the WorkSmart device the next time it checks in. To confirm the command was received, turn the machine's key to ignition ON for 3 to 5 seconds. The My Kubota app will update to confirm the starter is disabled. To re-enable starting, send the Enable Starting command and turn the key to ignition ON for 3 to 5 seconds to confirm.
Premium and Basic Subscription Plans
All WorkSmart Telematics-equipped machines, whether factory-installed or aftermarket, include three years of Premium Telematics at no additional cost. After the initial three-year term, owners choose to continue on the Premium plan or roll to the Basic plan.
Premium Telematics
Full-feature access
Basic Telematics
Included after 3-year term expires
Kubota began notifying owners of expiring Premium subscriptions starting in February 2026. If your three-year term has expired or is approaching expiration, you will receive email and in-app notifications approximately 90, 30, and 7 days out. Renewal is managed entirely through the My Kubota app at $100 per year or $10 per month per machine. Subscriptions that are not renewed will automatically convert to the Basic plan.
