What Is KubotaNOW Telematics?

KubotaNOW is the brand name for Kubota's telematics system, built on the WorkSmart Telematics platform. When a compatible Kubota machine is equipped with a WorkSmart modem, it transmits data to the My Kubota app and web platform. You can see where the machine is, how it's running, and whether it needs attention, all without being on site.

For Arizona operators managing excavators on remote desert job sites, skid steers across multiple job sites in Mesa, Buckeye, Deer Valley, or the greater Phoenix area, or tractors on large properties near Yuma or Casa Grande, KubotaNOW removes the guesswork from fleet and equipment management. You know the machine is where it's supposed to be, it's running properly, and it hasn't thrown any fault codes, before you make the drive out.

GPS Location Tracking

Know exactly where each machine is at any time. View locations on a map in the My Kubota app and confirm equipment is on the correct job site.

Engine Hours and Status

Track accumulated engine hours remotely. Know how hard each machine is working and plan maintenance intervals accurately across your fleet.

Fluid Levels and Temperatures

Monitor fuel, DEF, coolant temperature, hydraulic temp, and battery voltage. Get alerts before a fluid issue becomes a breakdown.

Fault Code Alerts

Receive near real-time notification of error codes before they escalate. Identify issues early and plan service before a machine goes down on a job.

Restart Inhibit

Remotely disable a machine's starter through the app. If equipment is stolen or left unsecured on an Arizona job site, you can prevent it from starting until you say otherwise.

Geofencing

Draw custom boundaries around job sites, storage yards, or property lines. Get notified immediately when a machine enters or exits the geofence.

The My Kubota App

My Kubota is the mobile and web platform where all WorkSmart Telematics data lives. Available on iOS and Android, it gives equipment owners a single dashboard to monitor all telematics-enabled machines, manage geofences, set up alerts, and access digital operator's manuals and maintenance guides for their specific models.

Beyond telematics, My Kubota includes model-specific maintenance information and how-to videos for common service tasks. For Arizona operators who run equipment far from a dealer, having the operator's manual and maintenance guides available in the app reduces downtime when a question comes up in the field.

My Kubota App: Monitor and Manage Your Equipment 24/7
  • Equipment dashboard showing all telematics-enabled machines in one view
  • GPS map view with machine locations and geofence overlays
  • Digital operator's manuals for each machine registered in the account

WorkSmart Telematics: What It Tracks

WorkSmart is the underlying telematics system that powers KubotaNOW. When a compatible machine is equipped with a WorkSmart modem (either from the factory or as an aftermarket installation), it begins reporting data to the My Kubota platform. The specific data points available vary by machine model, but the core WorkSmart feature set includes:

Geofencing: Know When Equipment Moves

A geofence is a digital boundary you draw on a map in the My Kubota app. When a WorkSmart-equipped machine enters or exits that boundary, you receive a notification. You can create multiple geofences for different job sites, storage yards, or property boundaries, and each geofence can be named for easy identification.

For Arizona contractors with equipment stored at overnight job sites or left unattended near Casa Grande, Cottonwood, Parker, Yuma, or any remote desert location across Arizona, a geofence is a practical theft deterrent. If the machine moves when it shouldn't, you know immediately.

How to Create a Geofence in My Kubota

  1. 1Open the machine card in the Equipment tab of the My Kubota app
  2. 2Select "Geofence" under "WorkSmart Telematics"
  3. 3Tap "Add Geofence" and zoom the map to the desired area
  4. 4Tap multiple points to draw the boundary, then connect the last point to the first to close the area
  5. 5Tap "Save" and give the geofence a name for easy identification

Restart Inhibit: Remote Starter Control

Restart Inhibit lets you remotely disable a machine's starter through the My Kubota app. Once enabled, the machine will not start until you send the command to re-enable it. This is available on select WorkSmart-supported models and is one of the most practical security features for equipment left on unattended Arizona job sites overnight or over a weekend.

How Restart Inhibit Works

When you send a Disable Starting command from My Kubota, the signal goes to the WorkSmart device the next time it checks in. To confirm the command was received, turn the machine's key to ignition ON for 3 to 5 seconds. The My Kubota app will update to confirm the starter is disabled. To re-enable starting, send the Enable Starting command and turn the key to ignition ON for 3 to 5 seconds to confirm.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is KubotaNOW Telematics?
KubotaNOW Telematics is Kubota's remote equipment monitoring system, built on the WorkSmart Telematics platform. When a compatible Kubota machine is equipped with a WorkSmart modem, it transmits GPS location, engine data, fluid levels, fault codes, and operating status to the My Kubota app and web platform. Owners can monitor all of this remotely from a phone or computer without being on site. It also includes geofencing and, on supported models, the ability to remotely disable the machine's starter.
Which Kubota machines are compatible with WorkSmart Telematics?
WorkSmart Telematics is compatible with a growing range of Kubota equipment including the SVL97-2, SVL75-2, SVL65-2, SSV65, SSV75, KX040-4, KX033-4, KX030-4, KX018-4, U-Series compact excavators, R-Series wheel loaders, and more. A KubotaNOW modem is required for machines not factory-equipped with telematics. Download the full supported models list using the button on this page, or ask our team at any Bingham Equipment Arizona location to confirm whether your specific machine is compatible.
How do I access KubotaNOW Telematics data?
All WorkSmart Telematics data is accessed through the My Kubota app, available free on iOS and Android, or through the My Kubota web platform. Once your machine is registered and the WorkSmart modem is active, the equipment card in the Equipment tab shows all available telematics data for that machine including location, fluid levels, engine hours, temperatures, and fault codes.
What is the difference between Premium and Basic Telematics?
Premium Telematics includes unlimited WorkSmart updates, accurate real-time location, current machine vitals and fault codes, geofencing, restart inhibit control, enhanced notifications, and API access for third-party fleet platforms. Basic Telematics is the free tier that machines roll to after the initial three-year Premium term expires. Basic provides only two WorkSmart data updates per day and does not include geofencing, restart inhibit, or enhanced notifications. Premium renewal is $100 per year or $10 per month per machine through the My Kubota app.
My machine's three-year Premium subscription is expiring. What do I need to do?
Kubota will notify you by email and through the My Kubota app approximately 90, 30, and 7 days before your Premium subscription expires. To keep the full feature set, set up automatic renewal payments in the My Kubota app before the expiration date. If you miss the renewal window, your subscription will convert to Basic automatically and you will lose access to geofencing, restart inhibit, and real-time notifications until you renew. Renewal is managed entirely in the My Kubota app at $100 per year or $10 per month per machine.
Can I add KubotaNOW Telematics to a machine I already own?
Yes, on supported models. A KubotaNOW modem can be added as an aftermarket installation to compatible machines. Once installed, the machine can be registered in My Kubota and begins reporting data. Contact Bingham Equipment at any Arizona location to confirm whether your specific machine model supports aftermarket telematics installation and to get the modem ordered and installed by our certified technicians.
How does geofencing help protect my equipment on Arizona job sites?
Geofencing lets you draw a digital boundary around a job site, storage yard, or property in the My Kubota app. If a WorkSmart-equipped machine moves outside that boundary, you receive a notification immediately. For Arizona contractors leaving equipment overnight on remote sites near Casa Grande, Yuma, Parker, Cottonwood, or anywhere else across Arizona far from a dealer or shop, a geofence combined with restart inhibit gives you two layers of protection: you know the machine moved, and you can prevent it from being driven further by disabling the starter remotely.
What is Restart Inhibit and how does it work?
Restart Inhibit is a WorkSmart Telematics feature available on select supported models that lets you remotely disable a machine's starter through the My Kubota app. Once you send the Disable Starting command, the WorkSmart device receives it at its next check-in. Turning the key to ignition ON for 3 to 5 seconds confirms the command. After that, the machine's starter will not engage until you send the Enable Starting command and confirm it the same way. It does not affect a machine already running, but once shut off, it will not restart until you re-enable it.
Does Bingham Equipment install KubotaNOW modems?
Yes. Bingham Equipment's certified technicians install KubotaNOW modems on compatible Kubota machines at all Arizona locations, including Mesa, Casa Grande, Prescott Valley, Tucson, Buckeye, Deer Valley, Cottonwood, Lakeside, Parker, and Yuma. If you have an existing Kubota machine you want to add telematics to, contact your nearest Bingham Equipment location to confirm model compatibility, order the modem, and schedule the installation.
